Leah Smutko
House Chef

Leah Smutko is the EDCMT House Chef, providing comfort and nourishment via the kitchen. To utilize both her BS in Anatomy and Nutrition and degree in Farm to Table Culinary Arts, Leah moved from Colorado to Bozeman for a Master’s in Sustainable Food Systems. Prior to joining the EDCMT team, Leah taught cooking courses for MSU’s dietetics and sustainability programs. Most recently, she ran the kitchen and operations of Bozeman’s pay-what-you-can restaurant, Fork & Spoon. Leah believes that sharing a meal is about creating connection, whether interpersonal, with the local environment, a culture, or just a chance to check back in with yourself. She holds firm to the idea that food is holistic care and is attracted to the EDCMT philosophy that no food should be demonized. Her meals can be for energy, nourishment from stress, affection for others, or a celebration of the season. Leah’s goal is to foster curiosity, satisfaction, and accomplishment through cooking. She hopes that experiences of novel flavor combinations, nostalgic meals, and inviting kitchen environment will make every meal another step towards recovery.
