Based on the admission assessment findings and follow up sessions with an assigned treatment team, a comprehensive treatment plan is developed collaboratively with our staff, the patient, and when appropriate, family members. From there, we implement an individualized approach that works towards the patient’s goals, honoring each patient’s unique needs that supports and protects their character integrity.

Treatment Systems
Collaborative and Highly Individualized
EDCMT’s programs apply an “upstream” approach to treating eating disorders. Our practices are based on the understanding that behavioral health symptoms–particularly those of eating disorders–often result from attempts to establish self agency and authority over one’s place in the world around them. When agency over feelings and self expression cannot be accessed, anxiety and traumatic affects unwittingly evolves into self-destructive behaviors that we see in the symptoms of eating disorders as an innate attempt to maintain a semblance of control.
EDCMT’s treatment approach is warm, directive and engaged and actively helps patients in lessen the dependency on maladaptive coping mechanisms by identifying with them patterns and mechanisms that they deploy to avoid underlying conflicts that sustain their unhealthy behaviors. We then help the patient develop the capacity and skills to master their anxieties and discover their unique path into full and long lasting recovery from their eating disorder.
