Admission Process

How do I know if my family member needs treatment for an eating disorder?

Chances are, your family member may need treatment if they struggle with overwhelming feelings about:

  • Food and eating
  • Exercise
  • Body weight, shape or size

The need for treatment is even more likely if your family member:

  • Purposely limits weight gain or forces weight loss by:
  •   Forcing themselves to vomit after eating
  •   Using diet pills, laxatives or diuretics
  •   Following a strict exercise routine that interferes with other activities
  • Weighs more or less than expected for their age and height, and this is not caused by another health condition.

Other signs your family member might need treatment include:

  • Worrying so much about food, weight or exercise that it affects their general happiness, and whether they enjoy life
  • Having eating behaviors that interfere with how they function at work, home, school, or in social settings
  • Relying on nutritional supplements instead of getting their nutrition through snacks and meals
  • Having feelings of self-disgust or hatred when thinking about their body size or shape
ADMISSION PROCESS

“I know my family member needs treatment for an eating disorder, what do I do next?”

Realizing your family member needs help with disordered eating behaviors can feel scary. At EDCMT, we understand this. You may be wondering about:

  • Whether we offer housing to patients traveling to our location from outside the Bozeman area
  • What level of treatment is right for my loved one? Does EDCMT offer it?
  • How much treatment costs
  • If we bill health insurance
  • How long treatment lasts
  • If EDCMT offers the level of care my loved one needs

We are happy to discuss them in detail during an initial phone call. We want to make sure you are as comfortable as possible before your family member ever steps foot through our doors.
