Food is not something you earn.

Food is not something you earn Title page

As human beings food gives us life. Literally.

It’s what allows us to truly soak up all the wonderful (and also difficult) parts of living a vibrant, full life. Without energy our bodies break down and shut down. Starvation is so detrimental to our health, it’s one of the reasons why anorexia has the highest mortality rate of ALL mental illness. (And any body size can suffer from anorexia.)

Every day–no matter–what our bodies need food. Even if you haven’t exercised. Even if you binged yesterday. Just basic functioning has an energy demand every day. And energy is food. Eating regularly, honoring cravings, all these help us to have a better relationship with food and our health. Eating regularly is a health promoting behavior.

Know that you always deserve to eat. That it is ok to eat today and always. We know it can feel hard to give yourself permission to challenge this narrative and allow yourself to tune into your own unique body cues and hunger but we promise that this permission leads to a better relationship with food and body. Eating is how we set ourselves free.
